Teen Dating Violence Policy, TX Education Code 37.0831 (formerly HB121) TX Education Code 37.0831 mandates that each school district in Texas adopt and implement a dating violence policy. It is important to note that NJ law does not strictly define “dating relationship”, meaning that there is no set time limit for how long a couple must have been dating in order for the victim to seek relief under the law.Dating violence is a pattern of assaultive and controlling behaviors that one person uses against another in order to gain or maintain power and control in the relationship.Changes relevant to the dating violence policy requirement are found on page 4 (in the middle of the page discussing prohibited behavior) and in the Glossary on page 40.
Below are the 7 standards to ensure compliance with the code.
Victims and abusers come from all social and economic backgrounds, faith communities, and racial and ethnic backgrounds. Both females and males can be victims of dating violence, but numerous studies reveal the reality that the majority of victims are females (usually more than 95 percent).
